SBCA Social Media Strategist—Now Accepting Applications
The Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis (SBCA) is seeking an motivated professional with an interest in benefit-cost analysis to serve as our Social Media Strategist.
This is a unique opportunity to shape SBCA’s online presence, engage with leading practitioners and academics, and expand your professional network — all while working on a flexible, contract basis (one-year term, renewable annually upon mutual agreement).
Position Summary
As SBCA’s Social Media Strategist, you will create and manage social media content in consultation with SBCA Headquarters and SBCA leadership. You will have meaningful creative autonomy while partnering with leadership to ensure alignment with SBCA’s mission and priorities.
Content Creation & Engagement
- Promote SBCA events, workshops, and initiatives.
- Highlight articles from the Journal of Benefit-Cost Analysis.
- Spotlight SBCA members
- Support occasional virtual engagement events, such as informal member discussions with journal authors or subject matter experts, by helping identify participants and content. (SBCA Headquarters handles all logistics and promotion.)
- Monitor relevant industry conversations.
- Live-post during the SBCA Annual Conference in March (includes complimentary registration and paid travel).
Community Management
- Respond to comments, messages, and mentions professionally and in a timely manner, and help cultivate an engaged online community.
- Track and report social media metrics for quarterly Board meetings.
Strategic Development
- Partner with a senior advisor in shaping the annual social media strategy.
Qualifications and Skills
- Knowledge of and interest in benefit-cost analysis.
- Proficiency in major social media platforms and best practices.
- Strong written communication skills and creative thinking.
- Previous social media management experience is a plus, as are basic graphic design skills.
Commitment Expected
- Participation in periodic calls with SBCA leadership.
- Attendance at the SBCA Annual Conference.
- Average of 2–4 hours per week. (Two hours per week is typical; up to four hours per week allows for enhanced content quality and strategic development.)
Compensation
- Complimentary annual SBCA membership.
- Complimentary conference registration and a $2,000 travel stipend for the annual conference.
- Complimentary attendance at any SBCA online workshop.
- Quarterly stipend of $500.
